Ned E. Williams Elementary School goes beyond the regular academics required by the District and State of Texas to learn the art of giving. Diana Williams, the school’s speech therapist organizes events that enable students to learn the art of giving through civic engagement. So, during Veteran’s Day, students showed their appreciation for local veterans with a special program.
According to Cynthia Wise, principal of Ned E. Williams we love to give a special celebration to our veterans because we are grateful for their sacrifices. Secondly, it teaches and gives our students the opportunity to serve others. As for Williams, she wants the students to be civic minded and understand the price of freedom.
In addition, they learn what it means to have a free country. It is not cheap nor free.
